The Captains place is located in a completely renovated ship named the Pas Merprise, on a beautiful quay on the Levantkade, 184. The Levantkade is located on the KNSM island, a former mineral harbour (Ertshaven). Right across the Captain's place is the architectually famous "Barcelona", which is a building designed by the Architect of quite some renown, Bruno Albert. It is popular among tourists because of the beautiful, giant fence which basically tells you a story.
With two clasically decorated bedrooms, "Orion" and "Cassiopeia", the Captains place is especially for your relaxation. The bedrooms both have a spacious bathroom with a wide bath tub and, of course, a toilet. There also is a pato garden which can be used to relax and/or breakfast. Because the patio garden has a slidable roof, you can sit there both in summer and winter.
There are countless possibilities. There's a mall on walking distance and there also are a lot of dining opportunities. For people who practice watersports, it is possible to moor in the area, but only if Eugene agrees, until 20 meters off shore. Water and electricity are available. It is also possible to ride a teak-wooden pinnace with expert crew who can tell you about the city of Amsterdam. It will guide you through the painting-like Amsterdam canals, where you can enjoy the view of the beautiful houses and depots/warehouses, with food and drinks which you can bring yourself. If you'd wish to, it is possible to get out near museums and the city theatre. One trip of a minimum of 2 hours costs 50 euros an hour, including a sailor and fuel.
Who is this Captain and what is his place?
Owner Eugène Reijmers has done sailing charters in the Mediterranean sea for years on his sailing yacht Elessar. He now continues to offer his hospitality in Captains Place, a peaceful oasis for the tired traveller or hard working businessman.
Here in Amsterdam, Eugène has tried to recreate the experience of sailing in the Mediterranean. And he has succeded in combining it with the Amsterdam houseboat setting.
